Ensuring electricity is distributed to where it is needed
Since its foundation, Promet AG has focused on energy and control technology. Headquartered in Kirchberg, Switzerland, the company has gained a reputation as an expert in developing and manufacturing sophisticated system solutions. In other words: Promet AG is a key player in applications involving energy and power. Its solutions are used in various applications such as renewable energy sources, including wind and solar power, e-vehicle charging stations and battery production. The benefit: Even complex projects are implemented efficiently, optimising both product characteristics and the costs for end customers.
Bruno Brühwiler, Production Manager at Promet AG, explains what this philosophy looks like in practice.
The company has a definite focus on processing aluminium and copper, especially for the production of busbars. An impressive range of machines is used for this task, including CNC milling machines, edging machines, punch presses, pressing machines and saws. The dedicated assembly teams can draw on the latest technology and take full advantage of their technical expertise.
Driven by automation and innovation
Production focuses on series containing 50 to 300 parts, but the company is also capable of mass production. Renowned companies rely on the quality and reliability that Promet provides. In order to remain competitive and counteract the shortage of skilled workers, the company uses automation throughout their production processes. "We automate everything we can," says Brühwiler. One example of this is CNC milling, which utilises robots to enable unmanned shifts to be implemented.
This increase in efficiency goes hand in hand with close cooperation with customers to identify continuous improvement potential together. Quality assurance and a robust supply chain are always high on the list of priorities.
New technologies, such as artificial intelligence (AI), are also in use. "This technology is still in its infancy, but we are keeping up to date with advances" says Brühwiler. "It's an exciting time. You can't drag your heels or try to stop innovation."
The core of the business: The people
This spirit of innovation is also reflected in the personnel structure. Promet deliberately employs people with a wide range of backgrounds, including both experienced professionals and those who have changed career. The fact that around a quarter of the workforce is female is also of note. Options such as part-time positions also ensure better work-life balance.
The company also plans to train apprentices in the future. Regular employee events promote cohesion and contribute to a family atmosphere. "We want to remain attractive — we cannot stand still", says Brühwiler, summing up the company's philosophy.
This excellent approach to cooperation is also evident in how the company works with its partners, such as Brütsch/Rüegger Tools. Bruno Brühwiler describes the partnership as straightforward and characterised by good cooperation, especially when working together with experts such as Stiven Andrijanic in the milling machines sector. The quick answers and constructive dialogue are particularly appreciated.
