145-year-old company joins forces with start-up
To provide manufacturing companies with even more comprehensive support with digitalisation and software system integration, Brütsch/Rüegger Tools is strengthening its long-term collaboration with Stemys SA from Delémont.
Urdorf, 8 February 2022 — Brütsch/Rüegger Tools identified Industry 4.0 as an important area over ten years ago and has been gradually developing specialist knowledge in smart factories ever since. As well as offering the traditional full range of tools, operating materials and personal protective equipment, the 145-year-old company now also acts as a software developer and system integrator.
To offer customers even better support with modernisation in the future, Brütsch/Rüegger Tools and Stemys joined forces on 1 January 2022. Brütsch/Rüegger Tools purchased the remaining shares of Stemys at the end of 2021, rounding off its existing stake in the company that it had acquired in 2015. Developing a shared roadmap to the future represents the perfect symbiosis for both companies: The innovative drive brought by a young team of agile digitalisation innovators complements the strong market presence of a systemically important company that is long established.
Stemys SA was founded in 2013 and initially focused on creating digital interfaces between measuring equipment and measuring software. Over time, the communication technology that the company developed was extended to other industrial objects such as production machines and management systems for tools or materials. 2014 saw Stemys win a project for CTI (now known as Innosuisse) with the IoT platform on which the current Jellix solution is based (see next section).
The integration of Stemys is a logical extension of the successful collaboration between the companies following their customer projects in Switzerland and across the globe. The two key milestones are the jointly developed Hive Digital Suite, a software platform for manufacturing companies, and Jellix, the specially designed IIoT platform (Industrial Internet of Things). As a subsidiary of Brütsch/Rüegger Tools, Stemys will continue to operate as an independent company based in Delémont.
Raphaël Müller, Head of Industrial Solutions at Brütsch/Rüegger Tools, has been involved in all collaborations with Stemys since 2015 and also became Managing Director at Stemys SA on 1 January 2022. "Our main focus is to provide our customers with comprehensive support on their journey into the digital world", explains the digitalisation expert. Currently, the focus is on customer projects and development projects in the IIoT, Industry 4.0 and smart products.
