Because knowledge is the most important tool

Accuracy is a must in many industries, and Brütsch/Rüegger Tools provides the expertise required to achieve this. (William Warby)

Knowledge is the number one tool

How is a passenger aircraft actually built — and what holds the construction weighing several tonnes together? Andreas Trefz, Head of Assembly Technology at Brütsch/Rüegger Tools, knows the answer. And it's a surprising one: "Nowadays, the components of a passenger aircraft are almost more frequently glued rather than riveted." This is because modern industrial adhesives are extremely reliable and effective, and also because the double-sided adhesive tapes used in the aviation industry are almost completely non-flammable. "Using these products directly enhances passenger safety."

Precision is essential for using special tools, meaning measurement technology has a major role to play. Brütsch/Rüegger Tools will be staging a basic seminar on this topic next year. It will provide a basic overview and look into the principles of measurement technology. The seminar is just one example of the wide range of advanced training provided by Brütsch/Rüegger Tools. Other key topics include Ergonomics in the workplace and the SmartFactory. An overview of the various workshops and seminars is available here.

Expertise also needs to be sharpened

Aircraft construction is only one of many applications in which professional adhesive technology is used. That's why Brütsch/Rüegger Tools provides seminars and workshops in this field. "This enables us to not only provide our customers with premium tools, but also help them to use tools in the most effective way", says Andreas Trefz.

Andreas Trefz ensures that the courses address the needs of customers (BRW).

At Brütsch/Rüegger Tools, one of the main areas where expertise is shared is "assembly technology". This is divided into "chemistry" and "fastening technology". The "chemistry" category includes "bonding and sealing", however, specific seminars and workshops will also focus on the managing pollutants. In order to keep up with the times, the company often works with experienced partners from the industry.

But how do you ensure that the topics actually address customers' concerns? "The companies come to our seminars with specific problems", explains Trefz. They also look at special cases: "We provide genuine problem-solving seminars that make our customers stop and take stock".

Handle with care — adequate torque is essential when tightening screws. (Caleb Woods)

Every Newton-metre counts

The same applies to the events in fastening technology, which also address genuine, specific customer requirements. "To maximise this added value, we can also hold our seminars at the customer's business if desired and if the number make sense." Not only does the expert from Brütsch/Rüegger Tools bring a huge amount of expertise to the table, but also a huge range of torque wrenches and test equipment. The idea is to try the equipment and see how it works.

In the fastening technology seminar, for example, the customer's employees can watch to find how many Newton-metres a screw can and must be tightened in each specific case. Any questions will be clarified and uncertainties cleared up. "In practice, it often becomes apparent that companies lack experience or the right tools — we can provide both", says Andreas Trefz.

And this extends beyond physical tools, as Brütsch/Rüegger Tools is now also a leading supplier of Industry 4.0 applications. Smart digital solutions enable companies to network their machines and departments, create better process transparency and ultimately increase their productivity. The enormous potential created by this can be seen at the Brütsch/Rüegger Tools
